Privacy Policy

Last updated: 09/09/2026. This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is collected and processed via https://mismatchedshoesday.be (“the website”), part of the Mismatched Shoes Day campaign.

1. Who is responsible for your data

WEWIS and Agence FSE jointly act as data controllers for the personal data collected through this website. Together, they determine the purposes and means of the processing of personal data in the context of Mismatched Shoes Day.

So Buzzy supports the campaign as the appointed communications agency and acts as a data processor where it processes personal data on behalf of the joint controllers and in accordance with their instructions.

2. Registration form

When you register your participation in Mismatched Shoes Day through the registration form on this website, we collect the personal data requested in the form, such as your (organisation) name, email address and mobile phone number.

We use this information to register and follow up on your participation in Mismatched Shoes Day and to provide you with practical information related to the campaign.

If you separately choose to receive campaign updates or other communications, we use your contact details for this purpose based on your consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time.

Aggregated information about participation may also be used for reporting purposes in the context of the ESF+ campaign. The applicable legal basis for this processing will be confirmed by the joint controllers.

Registration data related to the event is retained until three months after the event, after which it is deleted or anonymised, unless a longer retention period is required for another lawful purpose.

If you have subscribed to receive campaign updates or newsletters, your contact details are retained until the newsletter is discontinued or until you withdraw your consent, whichever comes first.

3. Cookies

This website uses cookies. For full details on which cookies are placed, their purpose, and how to manage your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy.

4. Third-party tools and embedded content

Depending on where you interact with the campaign, the following third parties may process data about you:

  • Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — advertising and campaign performance tracking via the Meta pixel, for users who arrive via or interact with our paid social campaigns.
  • YouTube — where campaign videos are embedded, YouTube may set cookies and collect data as described in Google’s own privacy policy.
  • Awario — used to monitor public mentions and hashtag use related to the campaign.

Each of these third parties processes data under their own privacy policy; we recommend reviewing these directly.

5. Who we share your data with

Personal data may be shared with service providers that support the operation of the website, registration forms, campaign communications or reporting, where this is necessary for them to provide their services. These parties process personal data only on documented instructions and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.

Where reporting is required in the context of the ESF+ programme, participation data may be included in aggregated or anonymised reports. If identifiable personal data would need to be disclosed to another organisation, this will only happen where there is an appropriate legal basis and where necessary for the relevant purpose.

6. How long we retain your data

Registration data: see Section 2 above.

For any users that register an account on this website, personal information provided in the user profile is stored until the account is deleted. Users can view, edit, or delete this information at any time.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR, and depending on the circumstances and legal basis of the processing, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — to obtain information about the personal data we process about you and receive a copy of that data.
  • Right to rectification — to correct or complete inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances, for example when the data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
  • Right to restriction of processing — to request that the use of your personal data is limited in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability — where the processing is based on your consent or on the performance of a contract, you may receive the personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and, where technically feasible, have it transmitted to another controller.
  • Right to object — where applicable, to object to the processing of your personal data.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time. This does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
  • Right to lodge a complaint — you may lodge a complaint with the competent data protection supervisory authority if you believe your personal data has been processed unlawfully.

8. Contact and complaints

To exercise your rights or ask questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact: contact@mismatchedshoesday.be.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority:

  • for processing under the responsibility of WEWIS: the Vlaamse Toezichtcommissie (VTC);
  • for processing under the responsibility of Agence FSE: the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit).

9. Changes to this policy

This Privacy Policy will be reviewed and, where needed, updated as the campaign develops. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
